PLAY AREA

The Parish Council had to remove the swings in August 2021, as they were past their best. Since then a group of volunteers, appointed by the Parish Council, has been looking at plans for a new area and ways to fund it.
The first plan was to replace the entire area with new play equipment, based on the same sort of size aas the current items.

The cost came in a whopping £100,000. This would add a lot to the tax payers bills for Leadenham and so funding was sought.
Applying for funding is not straight forward and it is very unlikely to be granted the whole amount.
The plan was then scalled down to a more affordable amount - swings only, at a cost of around £14,000 +VAT.

Full details of all the meetings, various persons leading and working on this can be found in the Minutes - take a look at Minutes 24/05/2022 and 25/11/2022 for a good overview.

An application for a grant was made at the end of 2022 and at pesent we are waiting to find out if our application has been successful.

UPDATE JULY 2023.

Funding has been confirmed and arrangements are being made to start the project.
The funding is coming from FCC (fcccommunitiesfoundation.org.uk) who will supplu around 90% of the costs. The Parish Council has donated £1,499.01 towards the costs.
There is still work to do before the contractor starts, however we are getting there and will keep the community informed.

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2023.

NEW EQUIPMENT FOR LEADENHAM PLAY AREA.
LPC is pleased to announce that the funding for two new swing units has been achieved with the majority being a grant from FCC Communities Foundation.
FCC Communities Foundation awards grants to community projects from funds donated by FCC Environment through the Landfill Communities Fund and Scottish Landfill Communities Fund.
Work starts on installation at Leadenham Play Area on Monday, 18th September and will be completed by the end of that week.
All equipment was not replaced at once because of the financial climate. The plan is to replace a different piece of equipment each year.
Required safety standards required for such equipment are high and surprisingly expensive!
Grants and the community contribution that goes with are hard to achieve
